New Music: "One Of Those Nights" Juicy J feat. The Weeknd

This is another track where The Weeknd has completely taken over the song. Juicy J comes in at the end with a few bars - but you wouldn't even know this was his song when you first hear it. I like it and I know the radio will play this one out very soon. This could be featured on Juicy J's new album - Stay Trippy. Enjoy!

Music Monday - Frank Ocean

Frank Ocean - "Eyes Like Sky"

This was unreleased until now, it comes from Channel Orange. I love it. Tell me what you think. I have included the lyrics below.

[Verse 1]
Hell yeah
A blind boy sees a green girl
She drives a green car through a dream world
She meets up with the green club
And talks of saving the earth from itself
A blind boy
Saw a blue man
Who rides a blue bus through a nightmare
And leaves work to a blue home
Where the blue seem different
Since she’s passed away
[Chorus]
And the same boy
With sunken eyes saw me
And described
Yellow so perfectly
Said he’s watching
Watching
Watching here
With eyes like sky
Eyes like I never seen
[Verse 2]
A blind boy
Became a kind man
Who painted white lights on a canvas
He once said he didn’t write songs
‘Cause making music would be selfish
And back then he saw the flags fly
Seen them fight and divide for it
He said war is for those who can see it
but what good is a border to me yeah
[Chorus]
And the same man
With sunken eyes saw me
And described
Yellow so perfectly
Said he’s watching
Watching
Watching
With eyes like sky
Eyes like I never seen
[Verse 3]
I said I wish you could see the ocean
He said I wish you could see hope
I said have you ever seen a mountain
He said no but my faith can move those
I said I wish you could see the stars
He told me I should see love (love)
Hell yeah
[Outro]
Said he’s watching
Watching
Watching
With eyes like sky
Eyes like I never seen

All About Bilal

bilal-the-retrospection

I'm always surprised to hear that people don't know who Bilal (Oliver) is and have never listened to his music. You may know him for his hit "Soul Sista" from the album "1st Born Second" in 2000.

Soul Sista (Album Version (Explicit))
^^^^ Listen to the album!!!!

He's not your average neo-soul / R&B artist. He has a different sound and a cool vibe that I can't get enough of. This mix by Vikter Duplaix is the best that I have ever heard and does a great job paying tribute to Bilal's eclectic style. Take a listen and enjoy. Make sure you download it to enjoy on your favorite device later.

Thanks to our friends at NPR, you can also listen to his new album, "A Love Surreal", for free: http://www.npr.org/2013/02/17/172110416/first-listen-bilal-a-love-surreal

I love the new album and I hope that if you don't know Bilal, you give his music a chance.

Verses & Flow - Houston

I had the opportunity to attend a live poetry and music event called Verses & Flow. This show airs on TVOne and features Omari Hardwick, Javon Johnson, and recording artist Tank. Before the show, I had the chance to have some light hearted conversation with Omari and Javon.

Tank provided us with an awesome mini-concert. He had the ladies swooning and screaming.

It was a great night spent with friends and the crowd was sprinkled with celebrities including Cathy Hughes, George Daniels, LeToya Luckett, and Hollywood Al.

Music Mondays

"One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain." - Bob Marley

Today, I would like to present "This Could Be the Night" by the Foreign Exchange featuring Eric Roberson. What a great combination of artists. If you aren't familiar with these artists, please explore their music. There are so many musicians that have EXCELLENT music but can't be heard on the radio. I hope you enjoy!
